The End of Sitting is a holistic approach for an active workspace by studio RAAAF (Rietveld Architecture Art Affordances) and visual artist Barbara Visser.
The prototype workplace makes sitting impossible but offers work spaces, with standing heights for various body types, as well as multiple positions such as leaning. Although it is not a realistic solution the project challenges one of the “silent killer” problems of the 21st century people – SITTING.
RAAAF co-leader Arna Mackic says: “We didn’t want to make a singular furniture element, because we believe that real change in the workplace should be an intervention on the scale of the whole environment.”
The installation is set up at Amsterdam gallery Looiersgracht 60.
